Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic

History

The clinic was established as a result of the cooperative efforts of many of the veterinarians in the Barrie and surrounding areas. These veterinarians combined resources, money and knowledge to start the practice in June of 2001 with the intent of supplying quality after-hours service to their clients.  Subsequently, other area veterinarians have purchased shares in the clinic.  Original and new shareholders are referred to as “partner” clinics.  The Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic also provides service to clients of veterinarians in the area who are not “partners”. 

The Board of Directors

Approximately 5 of these partners sit on the executive every year, and are ultimately responsible for the decisions made affecting the clinic operations.  Each year, one partner will resign from the board and another will serve on the executive.  The clinic is independently staffed and managed. In other words, the majority of shareholders do not generally work at the clinic.
